Honda has released a teaser of an upcoming affordable adventure motorcycle. The motorcycle will be launched on August 19th. The motorcycle could be called “NX200” as the Japanese manufacturer registered the same name in India. The NX branding is used on Honda’s single cylinder dual sport motorcycles.

In the video we can see that the NX200 looks like an Adventure Tourer. It gets ankle guards on which the turn signals are mounted. There is also a high and opaque windshield that gives the driver some protection from gusts of wind. We can also see an LED headlight that Honda is using. It is very similar to the Hornet 2.0 headlight unit. The headlight is mounted in the fairing, while the Hornet 2.0 is designed as a naked motorcycle. The paintwork used by Honda is also red and white, which is only visible for a moment.

The NX200 will not be an off-roader like the Hero XPulse. It will be a smooth roader. So expect it to have alloy wheels instead of spoked wheels. It will have long travel but not adjustable. The long suspension travel should increase the ground clearance a little. The front wheel could measure 19 inches and if so the rear wheel should measure 17 inches. It is important to note that this is all just speculation as Honda has not yet confirmed anything.

The engine would be derived from the Hornet 2.0. So it will be an air-cooled single cylinder engine with fuel injection. In Hornet, this engine produces 17.27 hp maximum power and 16.1 Nm maximum torque. However, the engine can be easily adjusted to suit the Adventure Tourer. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox that is expected to be transferred to the NX200. The lack of 6th gear would make the engine feel stressed when driving at highway speeds on the NX200.

The motorcycle would get a single-channel anti-lock braking system. However, we would have liked a two-channel ABS or at least offered it as an option from the manufacturer. Even if it’s an adventure tourer, there should be a button to turn off the ABS, as is the case with the Himalayas and other off-road motorcycles.

It seems like the bike will come with upside-down forks like the Hornet 2.0, but it could have more travel, or at least we know they will be taller than the Hornet unit. The tires are also said to be an off-road spec and there would also be a bash plate to protect the engine.

Not much information is known about the new mild off-roader. It is expected to be around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 higher than the current Hornet 2.0. The Hornet currently starts at Rs. 1.31 Lakhs ex-showroom. So the NX200 will be more expensive than the Hero XPulse, but lower than the KTM 250 Adventure.
