If you ever run into the ABR team while touring the UK, chances are at least one of us might be wearing REV’IT! Equipment.

The Dutch manufacturer has built a reputation for making premium equipment that offers that holy trinity of style, performance and value for money and has kept us dry, protected and comfortable when touring Europe for many years.

So when I heard that the brand had opened the lid on their brand new DIRT range, a fully CE-certified equipment for riders looking for off-piste adventure and thrills in the saddle, I could wait and see what adventure bikers like us is offered.

We met with the REV’IT! rather than just buying an off-the-shelf suit.

I’ll explain this idea a little more when we look at the kit, so let’s take a look at what’s on offer.

REV’IT! Element jacket

First is the Element jacket, unique bike gear that looks a bit like a casual parka, with a detachable hood and a smocked look.

However, this is not a high-street jacket, behind the casual looks there are many features that ensure that the jacket shines in the saddle. First of all, the laminated hardshell outside consists of a flexible and waterproof ripstop fabric, which is supposed to protect the driver from the elements and at the same time allows a lot of movement while driving.

When off, Cordura reinforcements on the shoulders and arms ensure abrasion resistance, while REV’IT! ‘S own SEESMART CE level 1 protectors on the shoulders and elbows ensure shock resistance.

In addition, the ventilation helps cool you down if you work up a sweat in the field, with zippers on the upper and lower arms that draw in air and circulate around the jacket, while the hood and storm collar can be removed and stowed away, and the back pocket can also be stowed away warmer days.

Territory jacket

One of my favorite pieces of cycling gear is a ventilated REV’IT! Jacket that I bought during my pre-ABR days. I know from experience that there is nothing better than a full mesh jacket in midsummer. Now, in 2021, the brand seems with this one that area.

The single-layer mesh exterior is retained and is reinforced with Cordura fabric and SEESMART CE level 1 armor on the elbows and shoulders to promote maximum airflow in the saddle without compromising off safety, while the thumb loops at the end of each sleeve are also designed not to slide up and expose your arms in a slide.

Two hip pockets and a rear map pocket also offer plenty of storage space for the warm Summer rides.

Barrier gown

Of course, a fully ventilated jacket is a great idea in the summer until you get caught in a British thunderstorm. That’s where the Barrier gown comes in handy.

The barrier consists of the lightweight and waterproof Hydratex layer from REV’IT! and can be easily stowed in a pannier or tank bag when not in use. It also has an extra-long zip at the front so you don’t even have to take your helmet off to put it on when it starts to rain.

Caliber gloves

Finally, we have those for your top half Caliber gloves. They are designed to perform well both on and off the tarmac. They are made from a combination of leather and mesh textile to provide abrasion resistance and protection when off, as well as ventilation when the mercury rises.

To protect your hand from branches on the trail, there is flexible TPU protection over the top of the hand, knuckles and fingers, while reinforced palm protection provides additional impact resistance when off.

The caliber gloves also have a touchscreen compatible fingertip on each index finger that allows you to control your phone, navigation device or TFT without having to put on and take off your gloves.

Adventure bike pants

The Dirt series also features all-terrain pants. For adventure bikers there are two over-the-boot pants that continent and Element H2O Trousers.

Both are made from a sturdy, Cordura-reinforced ripstop fabric for abrasion resistance, with leather patches on the inside of the leg to make it easier to hold onto the tank when you are off-road.

The Element H2O pants are also waterproof laminated and equipped with a removable thermal lining for colder weather. Both pants have roomy cargo pockets for storage and zippers to guide airflow as the temperature rises.

For off-road-oriented drivers who ride with their pants in their boots, REV’IT! also produces the Peninusla Pants, and all three pairs come with REV’IT! S SEESMART CE-level 1 armor on the knees and hips.

protection

All jackets and pants in the series have integrated CE level 1 protection through the SEESMART armor from REV’IT! of CE level 2 protective layers that go hand in hand with the modular concept of the Dirt series.

They are designed to be conveniently worn under all of the series’ abrasion resistant clothing once you pull the existing level 1 armor out of them. The range includes the Proteus protector jacket, which has elbow, shoulder, back and chest armor that Slingshot back protector, and the Scram knee pads, while there’s even a neck support for serious off-road riding.

REV’IT! Dirt series

So there we have it. A range of kits to keep you dry, ventilated and protected while out on two wheels this fall.

We will soon be releasing the new DIRT series from REV’IT! get your hands on them to put them to the test website.
